Bovine Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency (BLAD) in calves is an autosomal recessive disorder. BLAD reduces the expression of certain proteins (Beta 2 integrin) on white blood cells. This reduced expression results in several defects of the function of the white blood cells and thus the imune system of these calves. The disorder is caused by a recessive mutation to the gene ITGB2.
BLAD is related to human LAD, and CLAD in dogs.
